Questioning of leaders of the Communist Party of India(Marxist) {CPI(M)} arraigned as accused in the killing of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T.P. Chandrasekharan continued at the trial court here on Tuesday.
R. Narayana Pisharadi, judge, Special Additional Sessions Court, is questioning them under Section 313 (power to examine the accused) under the Code of Criminal Procedure. The case related to a section of the CPI(M) leaders hiring a gang to kill Chandrasekharan at Vallikkad near Onchiyam on May 4, 2012.
K.K. Krishnan, member of the Onchiyam area committee and 10th accused in the case, said he had never stated that Chandrasekharan’s head and brain would be found strewn on the road at Kunnummakkara. [This was allegedly on the day when K.C. Ramachandran was accorded a reception after he came out on bail in connection with a case of attempting to kill an RMP worker, T.P. Balan, at Kunnummakkara in March 2012.]
He also denied the statement of K.K. Rema, wife of Chandrasekharan, that the defeat of the CPI(M) at Onchiyam, Chorode, Azhiyur, and Eramala in the grama panchayat elections and the defeat of CPI(M) candidate P. Sathidevi in the Vadakara Lok Sabha constituency in the 2009 general election had provoked them to hatch a conspiracy to kill Chandrasekharan.
During questioning, Krishnan replied that he did not know about the statement made by Ms. Rema that her husband had told her a week before he was killed that the CPI(M) would do nothing without the knowledge of four persons, C.H. Ashokan, former area secretary of Onchiyam area committee; Krishnan, Ramachandran, and P. Mohanan, member of the district secretariat.
He also denied the statement of K. Achuthan, a tailor, who was running a shop at Kunnmmakkara that he had heard his speech. Achuthan, who was the sixth prosecution witness, had stated that Krishnan was speaking to a crowd gathered in front of another shop.
He denied that M.K. Ravindran, aka Padayankandi Ravindran, Orkatteri local committee member, had given an invitation card pertaining to his housewarming party to Chandrasekharan.
The court also questioned Manojan aka Trouser Manojan (11th accused), Kadanganpoyil branch secretary; C. Jyothi Babu (12th accused), member, Kunnothuparamba local committee; on Tuesday.
The accused also denied that a seven member gang had killed Chandrasekharan and the statements made by Ms. Rema,wife of Chandrasekharan, as fifth prosecution witness.
P. Ajesh aka Kajoor (15th accused); P.C. Shibu (16th accused); and K. Sreejith (17th accused) were also questioned.
All of them had been charged with facilitating the murder of Chandrasekharan and they had prior knowledge that the RMP leader would be killed.
