Rajkumar Parothil, manager (Legal and Regulator), Idea Cellular Limited, Kochi, on Wednesday, told the court trying the murder case of Revolutionary Marxist Party leader T.P. Chandrasekharan that P.K. Kunhanandan, the 13th accused, had called P. Mohanan, the 14th accused, from the mobile phone used by K.C. Ramachandran, the eighth accused, on April 20, 2012.
Deposing before R. Narayana Pisharadi, special judge, Special Additional District and Sessions Court (Marad Cases), Mr. Rajkumar said that the call was made from the residence of Kunhanandan at Paral at 7.57 a.m. on April 20, 2012. The prosecution witness also submitted before the court the call detail records of 1,000 calls from 17 mobile phone connections. The calls made on April 20, 2012 were identified from the tower locations at Orkatteri, Paral, Vellikulangara and Chokli, Mr. Rajkumar said.
The case relates to a section of Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] activists allegedly hiring a gang to kill Chandrasekharan at Onchiyam on May 4, 2012. According to the prosecution, a mobile taken in the name of Ramachandran was used to make plans.
Kunhanandan is the member of the Panur area committee member of the CPI(M), P. Mohanan, member of Kozhikode district secretariat and Ramachandran, member, Kunnummakkara local committee. The prosecution filed an application seeking to include 14 new witnesses in the case. They included K. K. Pavithran, Anshith Narayanan, Subin, Sajeevan and Shanoj, who were earlier exempted from the list of witnesses. Others are Magistrates of Payyoli, Nadapuram, and Kozhikode Courts; Thalassery RTO M. Rajan; forensic lab officials Vinod Kumar, R. Sreekumar, M.K. Ajithkumar, K. V. Sreevidhya, and K.Arya.
