Writer U.A. Khader inaugurated the All India Trade Fair, organised by the Kozhikode Municipal Corporation, at Swapnanagari here on Thursday.

The exhibition, which comprises separate segments for health, education, agriculture, and industry, also offers a variety of entertainment programmes. The fair showcases a number of foreign and Indian products and has around 150 air-conditioned commercial stalls besides exhibition pavilions by all the major public sector and government undertakings. Indian Railways, Reserve Bank of India, Regional Science Centre and Planetarium, Indian Space Research Organisation, Medical College, Kozhikode, KSEB, Water Authority and the Usha School of Athletics are some of them.

The amusement park features several entertainment programmes with an ‘Ice-walk’ facility in addition to joy rides for children. An open-air theatre with a capacity of 500 people has been set up to stage cultural programmes every day.

A massive replica of the Taj Mahal will be a major crowd puller at the 45-day-long fair. The visitors can opt to visit the Taj alone for a special fee while the total entry fee is Rs. 50. Special discounts will be given for school students at the fair.
