Calicut International Airport Director J.T. Radhakrishna has said that relatives of non-resident Indians need not submit any documents to the airport if they want to bring bodies of their beloved ones back home. He told The Hindu on Monday that it was the airline companies that should communicate with the health officer at the airport. “The public need not hand over any documents to the airport. The airlines will normally have all the documents and they can hand it over half an hour before the aircraft lands,” Mr. Radhakrishna said.

The issue was discussed at a meeting here in which the health inspector, representatives of airline companies, and officials of the Customs and Immigration Departments were present.

Meanwhile, the body of Prakash Damodaran, who died a month ago in Saudi Arabia, was brought to the Calicut airport on Monday. It was handed over to relatives later.
