Students of the National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C), launched an indefinite strike on the campus on Wednesday, alleging that the college authorities were trying to impose unreasonable academic restrictions on them.
Student coordinators who addressed a protest, said the NIT-C was not following the grading policy adopted by all other NITs in the country. About 1,500 students from various departments joined the protest and boycotted their classes. A student coordinator said the recent hike in the course fee was troubling many students from the lower income groups.
