NIT-C immerses in ‘Ragam’

Day 2 of annual cultural extravaganza

The second day of Ragam, the cultural extravaganza of National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C), belonged to Mr. Banana, Arun Kumar Aravind and Ankit Tiwari.

Mr. Banana, the international juggler and street-artist, made an appearance as part of the event ‘Prodezza’ while filmmaker Arun Kumar Aravind had an interactive session with the students as part of ‘Take One,’ the short film festival. Playback singer Ankit Tiwari rocked the NITians with his popular numbers such as ‘Sunn Raha Hai…’ and ‘Gaaliyan….’

Earlier in the day, various musical competitions such as classical, Rajan memorial light music and Amplified, a rock band competition, were held. The dance events ‘Freestyle’, and ‘Pair-fect’, a duet competition, followed. The dance event, ‘Choreo-Nite,’ was held at night.

Dramatic events such as mimicry, mono-act and ‘Over-Acting’ had huge audience. Mime was one of the most awaited events of the day. JAM, Debate, Dumb charades, Twist in the Tale, Reporter, Mock-court and a dictionary based game, ‘What’s The Good Word?’ were some of the literary events of the day.

In addition, two quizzes were held – ‘Life is a Mela’, the general open quiz, and ‘Elephants can remember.’

Fine arts competitions like painting, pencil-sketching and face painting also took place. Other general events, including Treasure Hunt and Crime Scene Investigation were part of the day’s roster.

In addition to the competitions, workshops in DJ-mixing, archery, photography, self-defence, and dance were held.

The ‘Sawdust Sculpture’ exhibition by Santhosh Manasam, mural paintings by female artists of OISCA International, ethnic artefacts presented by Kirtads Calicut, ‘Frames’- a photography and painting exhibition which displayed works of NIT-C students, were crowd-pullers.
