T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case investigation officer denies the allegation
Counsel for the defence in the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case told the trial court here on Tuesday that the special police team had included the names of witnesses and accused after consulting the leaders of the Revolutionary Marxist Party, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, and the Congress party.
They came up with the allegation during the cross examination of K.V. Santhosh, chief investigating officer, before R. Narayana Pishradi, special judge, Special Additional Sessions Court (Marad Cases), at Eranhipalam here. The case related to a gang allegedly hired by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI-M] hacking to death RMP leader Chandrasekharan at Vallikkad at Onchiyam on May 4, 2012.
The defence lawyers argued that the preparation of the mahassar reports and the charge sheet had been done according to a pact reached between bureaucrats, senior police officers and the investigation team. However, Mr. Santhosh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch, denied these allegations.
K. Viswan, one of the defence lawyers, alleged that the delay in producing materials and submitting the list of properties before the court could be attributed to manufacturing of evidence.
However, the officer clarified that the delay in submitting materials before the court was primarily due to the large collection of evidence against the accused involved in the case. Mr. Santhosh said he was unaware of a case registered against him and another investigating officer Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP) A.P. Shoukath Ali based on a complaint filed by Prabhasini, mother of T.K. Rajeesh aka Rajeesh Thundikkandi, the fourth accused in the murder case, alleging that they had tortured the accused while he was in police custody. The complaint was filed before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Kannur.
He said that K.K. Mukundan, 75th accused, who was a resident of Hulimavu, South Bangalore, had been arrested based on circumstantial evidence. No one had testified against him.
