The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) on Friday constituted two more special checking squads for the city to track rash driving and violation of various road safety norms.

Licences suspended

The two checking squads earlier constituted by the department had taken action against 15 drivers from the city last week for using mobile phones while driving. Their licences were suspended along with other 45 persons who were held for rash driving, signal light jumping, and overloading.

The squad also acted against 12 tipper lorries which were operated after tampering speed governors.

Officials said the department collected a total fine amount of ₹3.16 lakh from the offenders.
