District Collector C.A. Latha has instructed the officials concerned to take necessary steps and ensure combined efforts of various departments to face emergency situations that would arise with the strengthening of monsoon in Kozhikode.
At a meeting convened to discuss the issue here on Tuesday, she instructed them to immediately contact the control room set up at the Collectorate in case of any such situation and to identify in advance schools or other buildings that could be used as temporary shelters. She directed the local self-governing bodies to complete their routine cleaning of drains much before the rain. The Collector said control rooms had been set up at the district headquarters and Taluk centres.
