Women, tribal people, dalits, and other marginalised sections of the society will be most affected under the capitalistic administration of the Narendra Modi government, rights activist Medha Patkar has said.

She was speaking at the valedictory summit of the year-long golden jubilee celebrations of the Muslim Educational Society (MES) that began with a women’s conference here on Thursday.

Delivering the keynote address on the occasion, she alleged Mr. Modi was all set to sell out the entire resources of the country to foreign powers. Ms. Patkar said it was not the US President Barak Obama who was scheduled to come to India to celebrate the Republic Day.

“Instead, it is an entire lot of greedy corporate big guns with their eyes on the valuable resources of the country,” she said. Strongly criticising the ‘Make in India’ campaign launched by Mr. Modi for its nature of giving all sorts of unlawful favours to capitalist powers for investing in India, she said Mr. Modi would sell out the entire country to foreign forces soon.

“Even the very sovereignty of the country would be at stake soon,” she said.

State Women Commission Chairperson K.C. Rosakutty inaugurated the women’s conference.

MES women’s wing leader and Social Welfare Board chairperson Kamarunnisa Anvar presided over the function. Social activists Teesta Setalvad, Flavia Agnes, Uzma Naheeda, and Jameela Ibrahim among others spoke on the occasion.

Earlier MES president Fazal Gafoor hoisted the flag for the valedictory summit of the golden jubilee celebrations of the society.

A number of State and national leaders of the MES including P.O.J. Labba and T.M. Zakir Hussain were present on the occasion. The four-day long valedictory summit will feature public meets, academic discussions, seminars, and cultural events among other things.
