Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala checked case statistics, action taken on various cases

Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala made a surprise visit to the Nadakkavu police station in the city on Sunday.

The doors of the lock-up, records room and various other offices were opened to the Minister as he walked in to check the situation. For over 10 minutes, he held discussions with senior police officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police K.B. Venugopal, Assistant Commissioner Pradeep Kumar and Circle Inspector P.K. Santhosh.

The Minister checked in detail the case statistics, action taken on various cases and complaints received on various issues.

Officers in charge of night patrolling were also called in to review the method and to give them additional directions to strengthen the system.

People-friendly police

Later speaking to the media, Mr. Chennithala said the visit was made as part of his continuing efforts to know the situation in various police stations and conduct discussion with the police officers on various issues. “The main purpose is to check whether the officers are practising a people-friendly approach,” he said.

The Home Minister, who expressed satisfaction over the inspection, said that similar visits would be conducted at other stations as well.

“Nadakkavu police station was selected as I was in the city for other functions,” he said.
