Man attacked in Kozhikode

Faizal Punathil, 43, was admitted to the government Medical College Hospital here with serious injuries after he was attacked by unidentified assailants at Pantheerankavu in the city at 10 p.m. on Thursday.

According to the police, Mr. Faizal, a hotel owner at Pantheerankavu, was attacked by two persons who arrived on a motorcycle.

Mr. Faizal sustained injuries on the back of his head and on his hands, hospital sources said.

The attack is understood to be the continuation of an ongoing clash between workers of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at Pantheeranakavu, said the police.
