Kozhikode: The State government will take steps for the industrial development of the Malabar region, Minister for Industries A.C. Moideen has said.

He was here to inaugurate the third business incubation centre set up by the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) at Cyberpark on Saturday.

Mr. Moideen said the government was duty-bound to provide the infrastructure and legal support required to set up industries in the State.

Speaking on the occasion, KSIDC Managing Director M. Beena said the incubation centre in Kozhikode would help the corporation expand its activities in the Malabar region. “Our effort is to transform job seekers into entrepreneurs,” she added.

The centre, spread across 4,000 sq.ft, is the third such venture being set up by the KSIDC after similar initiatives at Infopark, Kochi, and INKEL Tower, Angamaly. As many as 82 entrepreneurs in Information Technology and IT-enabled services sector can set up businesses at the centre, said a press release issued by the corporation. The area has been taken on lease from Uralungal Labour Contract Society Ltd. (ULCS).

M.K. Muneer, MLA, Mayor Thottathil Raveendran, and ULCS chairman Ramesan Paleri were present.
