The district administration in alliance with Digital Empowerment Foundation will conduct a social media workshop in Kozhikode on August 12.

The entry for the one-day workshop to be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. is free. However, it will be restricted to 75 participants.

The objective of the workshop is to delve deep into the functioning of social media and inculcate the participants with its various benefits.

The influence of social media had rapidly grown even in small villages.

However, its services should be utilised in a manner which would be beneficial to the society, District Collector N. Prasanth said.

The workshop will deliberate on themes such as the potentiality of social media, ways to improve its contents, its role in taking government services and projects to the masses, opportunities in expanding and coordinating charitable works and adding more people to its ambit.

Experts attached to the foundation will handle classes.

The workshop would be useful to those interested in social media, representatives from local self governments, government and quasi- governments departments and voluntary agencies. They can register their names over phone (9847736000). The last date to register is August 5.
