The State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has come out against Speaker N. Sakthan in the aftermath of the untoward incidents that happened in the State Assembly on September 13.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, BJP State president V. Muraleedharan said the Speaker had failed to act impartially during, and after, the fracas. Mr. Muraleedharan, who was critical of both the Opposition and the ruling MLAs, alleged that both the fronts were now trying to reach a “compromise,” instead of registering cases against those responsible for the melee in the Assembly. Justifying the Governor’s response to the incident, he said the MLAs should understand that the Governor’s role was not that of a scarecrow.
Whatever happened in the Assembly was unprecedented and inappropriate, he said.
