An extensive array of latest machinery and materials used in different segments of small scale industry (SSI) including footwear, food processing, wood and furniture, plastic, IT and engineering would be on display here at the International Industrial Exhibition of Machines and Materials being organised as part of the ongoing ‘Kerala Rising—2014.’

Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikkutty will inaugurate the two-day event being held as part of small scale industry promotion programme under the Kerala State Small Industries Association (KSSIA) at the Swapnanagari Grounds in the city on November 25.

The show will have several foreign companies including those from Italy, Germany and China exhibiting their machines and technologies in different segments. More than 100 of the total 340 stalls will be kept aside for production materials while the rest will be meant for machines. The show will primarily be aimed at potential entrepreneurs.Entry for general public will be limited to a few hours on the final day of the event starting from 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

“The visitors would require time in each stall to see and closely understand the machines and materials on display because each decision to purchase would be decisive for their business,” said K.P. Hashim, Coordinator of Rising Kerala.

Talking about the idea behind ‘Rising Kerala’, its general convener V.K. C. Naushad said that the event was an effort to see if the success achieved in the footwear sector in the State could be replicated in other sectors as well.
