Land acquisition for Kozhikode road work over

Land acquisition for four out of the seven city roads identified to be developed under the Kozhikode City Development Project is over, Minister for Social Welfare M.K. Muneer has said.

He was addressing a meeting convened to review the progress of the project at the Collectorate here on Saturday. The Minister said land acquisition had been completed for the 600-metre Stadium-Puthiyara Road, the Kovoor-Vellimadukunnu Road, the 4.7-km Karapparamba-Kalluthan Kadavu road, and the 3.38-km Gandhi road- Mini Bypass road.

The acquisition was progressing along the 8.44-km Pannathuthazham-CWRDM road. On the Francis Road- Pushpa Junction-Mankavu stretch, land had been acquired from 107 landowners and they had been paid compensation.

An agreement had been signed with 39 landowners and they would get compensation soon. The draft notification for the 8.4-kilometre Mananchira- Vellimadukunnu road had been published in the gazette.

Mayor A.K. Premajam; M.K. Raghavan, MP; A. Pradeep Kumar, MLA; District Collector C.A. Latha; Roads and Bridges Development Corporation Managing Director A.P.M. Muhammed Haneesh; and Kerala Road Fund Board Chief Executive Officer Harikesh were present.
