Labour department inspects industries on complaints of child labour

Inspection to be tightened in the days to come as part of ensuring better vigil.

Following reports on employment of child labour in some industries, a team officials from the Labour Department conducted inspections in various parts of the district on Wednesday.

Regional Join Labour Commissioner K. Sreesan headed the team. District Labour Officer R. Baiju, Assistant Labour Officers P. Rajan and N.M. Kumar also accompanied him in the drive.

Tough action

The Commissioner, in an official communication, said the inspection would be tightened in the days to come as part of ensuring better vigil.

He also made it clear that tough action would be taken against people who employ children as labourers.

The public was also urged to pass on information when they come across employment of child labour.
