Says the order will have serious implications
The Kerala Sasthra Sahitya Parishad (KSSP) has voiced strong reservations against the Supreme Court order giving conditional approval for the commissioning of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, against which there has been widespread protests by the local people and environmentalists.
In speeches made during the golden jubilee conference of the KSSP, which concluded here on Sunday, the State-level office bearers of the science movement pointed out that the court had given the approval without evaluating all the aspects and facts related to it and hence it was a highly regrettable and unfortunate move.
An official note issued here after the conference said that KSSP expected that there would be efforts from those concerned to file a petition to review the order since it had serious implications for the environment and the lives of a large number of people.
“As a science movement, the KSSP is offering all its support for such efforts,” the note said.
