Kozhikode DMO cautions against diseases

District Medical Officer (DMO) P.K. Mohanan has requested the public to be on the alert in the backdrop of diseases such as viral fever, dengue fever, jaundice, and diarrhoea being reported from various parts of the district.

In a press release issued here on Tuesday, Dr. Mohanan said people with viral fever should take complete bed rest and drink lots of water. They should have easily digestible food items frequently and avoid self-treatment.

The DMO laid stress on source eradication of mosquitoes to control the spread of mosquito-borne diseases. Checking water stagnation and observing Dry Day were means to this end, he said.

To check water-borne diseases, houses and their premises should be kept clean. One should drink only boiled water and observe personal hygiene. Water sources should be disinfected. Cold and old food should be avoided. Defecation in public places should be avoided, he said.
