Kozhikode district bus operators to join indefinite strike

December 13, 2013 02:44 pm | Updated 02:44 pm IST - Kozhikode:

The Kozhikode District Bus Operators’ Organisation will be part of the indefinite bus strike called by six bus operators’ organisations in the State from December 18 onwards.

Through the strike, the organisations are making a demand for increase in bus fares as well as subsidy for diesel. They also demand solution of problems associated with installing speed governors in buses, raising charges for students, ending parallel services, and withdrawing ‘unnecessary’ fines being levied on bus owners. The bus operators’ coordination committee will, however, not take part in the token strike on December 14, the forum said.
