Kozhikode city and Koyilandy educational sub districts emerged overall champions in the higher secondary and high school categories respectively at the five-day Kozhikode revenue district school arts fest that concluded at Perambra on Friday.

Balussery emerged runner-up in the higher secondary category while Kozhikode city came second in the high school category. In the upper primary category also, Kozhikode city lifted the overall championship. Kunnummal secured the second position.

In Arabic fest, Nadapuram sub district lifted the overall championship with 87 points in the high school category. Thodannur and Farook shared the second place. Around 9,000 students under upper primary, high school and higher secondary categories from 17 sub districts took part in 300 events. The festival was held at 18 venues with the Government Higher Secondary School grounds at Perambra being the main venue.

Organisers said the festival was a success with the cooperation of various sub-committees constituted under the leadership of teachers. Even a mobile application had been launched for the live update of results and to pass information on venues, they said.

More than 30,000 persons visited the special blog - chilanka17.blogspot.com- created for the live publishing of results from various venues. A team of teachers had been assigned to compile the results and update it in the blog. A film festival for children was another novel initiative at the festival this year.

The release of an e-souvenir too marked the culmination of the event, which was opened by M.K. Raghavan, MP. Student Police Cadets, National Cadet Corps and volunteers of the National Service Scheme rendered a commendable service for the eco-friendly conduct of the festival, organisers said.
