Kozhikode City educational sub-district was leading with 196 points when results of 57 events were announced in the Higher Secondary school category of the 54 th Revenue District School Kalolsavam as it entered the third day at the JDT Ismalm Higher Secondary School at Vellimadukunnu here on Wednesday.
Chevayur sub-district was in the second spot with 178 points and Koyilandy sub-district was placed third with 167 points.
In the High School category, Koyilandy sub-district however was leading with 148 points when results of as many as 41 items were declared at 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Chevayur sub-district with 143 points and Kozhikode City with 142 points were in the second and third positions respectively.
In the UP school category, Koyilandy educational sub-district was in the lead with 78 points. Perambra sub-district was in the second spot with 74 points even as Vadakara sub-district followed them closely with 71 points.Individual schools
Securing 83 points, Silver Hills public school was in the top position in the HSS category of the event with Memunda HSS coming second with 58 points.
In the High School category Thiruvangur HS was in the lead with 62 points leaving behind Silver Hills public school, which has 56 points. St. Joseph’s Anglo-Indian School for Girls with 26 points was leading in the UP School category while G.M. UPS Eletil followed them closely with 25 points.
Girls’ folk dance event in the higher secondary section was one of the crowd puller events of the day with all the participants bagging an A grade in the competition. “Though some contestants reintroduced age-old themes and songs with slight modifications some others showcased stunning performances with entirely new songs and themes,” said a judge after the event. The patience of the participants, judges as well as spectators were once again put to the test as most of the events were delayed for hours on the second consecutive day on Wednesday. Events such as Mohiniyattam, Oppana and Kuchipudi events of girls, however, had packed audiences in front of the stages where they were staged on the JDT Campus.
