Kozhikode City, Chevayur in engrossing race

District School Arts Festival formally inaugurated by M.K. Muneer at Kunnamangalam HSS

Traditional rivals Kozhikode City and Chevayur educational sub-districts kicked off the race for the title as the Kozhikode District School Arts Festival at Kunnamangalam entered the second day on Monday.

The festival, which was officially inaugurated on Monday by Minister for Panchayats M.K. Muneer at the Kunnamangalam Higher Secondary School (HSS), the main venue of the event, is attracting a large number of spectators to its multiple venues.

As per the result updates available at 9 p.m., the Kozhikode City educational sub-district is leading with 133 points in the high school section, closely followed by Chevayur with 120 points. The Koyilandy educational sub-district is in third spot with 114 points.

In the higher secondary school category, it is the Chevayur sub-district that is leading with 156 points. Following hard on its heels is Kozhikode City with 148 points. Balussery is in the third position with 113 points.

In the upper primary section of the festival, the race is led by the Balussery educational sub-district with 50 points. Vadakara and Chevayur are in second and third spot with 47 and 45 points, respectively.

As far as individual performance of schools is concerned, Silver Hills Higher Secondary School, Kozhikode, representing the Chevayur educational sub-district, is ahead with 86 points in the high school category.

St. Joseph’s Anglo Indian Girls Higher Secondary School, of Kozhikode City sub-district, lags behind with 54 points. Ilahiya Higher Secondary School, Kappad, with 40 points is in third position.

Silver Hills is also leading the pack in the higher secondary section with 78 points. St. Joseph’s Anglo Indian Girls Higher Secondary School has only 39 points. Government Higher Secondary School Medical College Campus is close behind with 36 points.

In the upper primary section of the event, three schools — MIUPS, Iyyad; Memunda UPS, Memunda; and GMUPS, Poonur — are sharing the top spot with 13 points.
