The district has bettered its performance in the Higher Secondary School examination by one per cent over last year.
As many as 33,775 students registered for the Plus Two examinations in the district this year. Of this, 33,496 wrote the examination and 28,094 cleared it.
The total pass percentage of schools in Kozhikode district is 83.87 against last year’s 82.5.
There is marked improvement in the number of students who scored A+ in all subjects this year.
Against last year’s figure of 475, this year, as many as 704 students made it.
Distinction for schools However, only two schools from the district crossed the 100 per cent mark this year while three schools had secured the distinction last year.
The Higher Secondary School for the Handicapped at Kolathara and Silver Hills Higher Secondary School, Kozhikode, are the two schools that scored 100 per cent pass this year.
VHS results In the vocational higher secondary sector, Kozhikode secured pass percentage of 76.66.
As many as 2,468 students appeared for the VHSS examination and 1,892 qualified for higher education.
Only, one of the 28 Vocational Higher Secondary Schools in the district, M.K.H Muslim Orphanage VHSS Mukkom, scored 100 per cent victory this time.
All the 45 students who appeared for the examination from the school scored victory.
According to K.P. Asharaf, a senior vocational higher secondary teacher at R.E.C. Government VHSS, Chathamangalam, chemistry and accountancy were two subjects in which the majority of the failed students fell short of marks this time.
Tough exams “While chemistry proved to be the toughest paper for science stream students, the accountancy paper was difficult in the commerce stream,” Mr. Asharaf pointed out.
