54th Revenue district school art fete enters fifth and final day

Performances staged at the 54th Revenue District School Kalotsavam here on Thursday explored themes that broke off the routine and touched social issues such as road accidents and violence against women.

The art festival is being held at the JDT Islam Higher Secondary School at Vellimadukunnu here.

Thursday, the penultimate day of the festival, had some events like group dance and Bharatanatyam starting hours behind schedule, irking participants and judges alike. A similar trend was observed on Wednesday too.

Despite the hiccups, Thursday was action-packed with close contests seen in events such as Mono-act, Kolkkali, group dance and Mappilapattu in all the three (UP, HS and HSS) categories.

On Thursday night, when results of 77 events were announced, Kozhikode City educational sub-district continued to retain its lead with 287 points in the HSS category. The city sub-district also stood first in the HS category with 240 points. In the UP school category, Koyilandy sub-district remained on top with 109 points.

In the HSS category, Chevayur sub-district holds the second position with 274 points while Koyilandy sub-district remains third with 249 points. Even in the HS category, Chevayur with 231 points stays ahead of Koyilandy that has bagged 226 points to come third. Perambra sub-district holds the second position with 107 points in the UP school section while Vadakara is in the third spot with 102 points.

Individual schools

With only one more day to go for the festival to end, Silver Hills Public School is all set to successfully defend its crown as the best individual school in the HSS as well as the HS category with 143 and 105 points respectively.

In the UP section, however, St. Joseph’s Anglo Indian School is the best individual scorer with 41 points.

In the HSS section, Perambra HSS is in the second position with 87, far below the clear leader, Silver Hills.

Government Mappila Vocational Higher Secondary School, Koyilandy, has bagged 79 points to occupy the third spot in the same section. The second and third spots in the high school category have been taken by St. Joseph’s Anglo-Indian School and Perambra HS with 84 and 83 points respectively.

In the UP section, Memunda HS is the second best individual scorer with 40 points while ST. Francis English Medium UP School is the third in line with 33 points.
