Have you ever felt the need for a software that enables you to browse social networking sites on the same window while working with Microsoft Office? Check out ‘Instant,’ an innovative tool created by Celento C. George, a Plus One Computer Science student of St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School at Kallody in Wayanad district.

‘Instant’ is a social media and email client. It floats around the screen and hence one can have an eye on all the important feeds and e-mails without having to switch between browser windows.

The software supports services such as Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Hot Mail, Celento says. One can switch between the sites with just a click. Multitasking is the core feature of the new software, the student says, adding that the user can use it along with Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, Word, and Movie Player. It also provides a fluid interface with animations to make the switch more pleasing.

New tweets are automatically pushed and so are new e-mails and posts. The software also comes with ‘Quick Note,’ with which one can easily take notes while browsing the web. All the notes written using Quick Note are automatically saved. Saving can be done either on Google Drive or Dropbox.

“Celento took nearly a year to complete the software and we are trying to get a patent,” C.V. George, his father, and a teacher at St. Martin’s LP School, Ondayangadi, says.

The trial version of the software can be downloaded at www.celensoft.com for ten days, free of cost. The original version costs $ 4.99.

The budding computer wizard has also developed a free web browser titled ‘Super Web’ and close to two lakh people have downloaded it in a month, he says.
