The Public Works Department will launch a beautification project on the banks of the Kadalundipuzha at Panakkad.

A river-side park being envisaged from Chamakkayam to Panakkad along the Malappuram-Vengara Road will have a 600-metre walkway, seats for visitors, gardens, and three river-view points. The promenade will be four metres wide. The space left after the four-metre wide walkway will be used for parking.

Culvert expansion

A culvert at Panakkad will be expanded and strengthened. A computer sketch prepared by Lensfed State vice-president U.A. Shabeer has been approved.

Mr. Shabeer submitted the sketches of the project to Minister for Industries P.K. Kunhalikutty, P. Ubaidulla, MLA, and PWD (Roads) executive engineer Mohammed Basheer.

Sanction

The officials said that technical sanction for the project was expected soon.

They said that the works could be launched within two months of the tender process. Mr. Ubaidulla said that boating would be launched in the Chamakkayam bund in the second phase of the project.
