The Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University, Tirur, conducted its third convocation on Tuesday, awarding degrees to 163 students in various subjects.
While 118 students of linguistics, literary studies, creative writing, heritage studies, media studies, environmental studies, local development studies, film studies, sociology and history were awarded postgraduate degrees, 45 students were awarded M.Phil degrees. Delivering the convocation address, Higher Education Council vice chairman Rajan Gurukkal said education should equip the students for a life of practicality.
Knowledge transfer
Presiding over the function, Malayalam University Vice Chancellor Usha Titus said new ideas, philosophies and perspectives should be generated along with the transfer of knowledge to the students.
Registrar K.M. Bharatan, Examination Controller M. Sreenathan, Students Welfare Dean T. Anita Kumari, and University Union chairman K. Pranav were among those who spoke at the ceremony.
