The Koyilandy police, under the headship of Circle Inspector C.R. Haridas, have launched a serious investigation into an incident in which a woman, with the support of two men, secured nearly 400 sovereign of gold and Rs.20 lakh cash from the wife of an expatriate.

Police officials said that the woman, who was arrested in the case last Friday, secured the amount from the housewife offering black magic support to save the family from various crises.

Remanded

The amount and the gold were grabbed by the woman in a gradual way by making the victim believe in the results of witchcraft, the police said.

Though Rahmath Basheer, the prime accused in the case had already been remanded, investigation officers confirmed that there were two other suspected men who colluded with her to execute the crime.

She will be shortly taken into police custody again for further investigation.

Mobile phone alert

The entire deals came out recently when the Non-Resident Indian checked his bank balance following a suspicious transaction alert he received on his mobile phone.

The case was registered following a written complaint made by the man.

According to police sources, they were yet to recover the gold ornaments and money completely, as it had already been divided among various persons.

More details of the incident will be out only after the remaining investigation and the arrest of the two more suspected persons, the police said.
