Indian team to take part in Dubai kite flying fete

A nine-member team, led by Syam Padman of One India Kite Team, will represent India in the first-ever Dubai International Kite Festival to be held from January 29 to 31.

The team includes Sundara Murthy, Abdulla Maliyekkal, Anoop K. Francis, Hashim Kadakkalakam, Sajid Thoppil, Sarveshwara Rao, Ravindrapal Singh, and Dennish Erada representing different States.

The festival is being held on the occasion of the 20{+t}{+h}anniversary of Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) at the Jumeirah Beach under the aegis of the Dubai Municipality with technical support from International Kite Association, USA. Teams from 30 Asian countries will take part in the competition under the categories of Sports Kite, Stand Kite, Inflatable Kite, Kite Surfing, and Kite Bugging. The Indian team will feature the Kathakali kite that had bagged first prize at the International Kite Festival of China in 2013.
