Initiative expected to provide an opportunity to enhance managerial and leadership skills of the local people

The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) has opened two classroom centres, one in Jammu and the other in Kashmir, as part of the institute’s aim to make the premium Executive Post Graduate Programmes (EPGP), accessible to working executives in different part of the country.

According to an IIMK release issued here on Friday, the initiative would provide an opportunity to enhance managerial and leadership skills of the locals who were forced to move to metropolitan cities to pursue their higher education. Executives serving in Indian Army would be benefited as they would now have access to formal learning of management functions which they could apply in their professional life, the release said.

Institute director Debashis Chatterjee said the IIMK stands by its commitment to the nation for embracing the marginalised sections of India’s youth in its quest for excellence. “Our footprints in Jammu and Kashmir will pave the way for opening the doors of management education to those who need it the most.”

Flagship programme

The EPGP is the institute’s flagship programme for working professionals, which are offered through in-campus classes and interactive learning platform classes conducted during evenings and weekends. The IIMK offers this program with technology partner Hughes Education. According to Atanu Adhikari, chairman of the programme, this initiative is centred on its socially participative academic philosophy.

Last month, the IIMK also announced the admission of 54.29 per cent women students in its postgraduate programme batch 17 (2013-15) narrowing the gender divide for the first time in the history of IIMs.
