IGNOU convocation on April 16

Vice-Chancellor of Calicut University M. Abdul Salam will be the chief guest on the occasion.

The first convocation of the IGNOU Regional Centre in Vadakara will be held at Madappalli Government College Auditorium on April 16.

M. Abdul Salam, Vice-Chancellor of Calicut University, will be the chief guest on the occasion. Around 200 students will take part in the function.

The centre was set up in 2011 to cater to students in Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, and Kozhikode districts.

35 per cent rise

The centre has recorded around 35 per cent increase in the number of students in these two years and the number of study centres have increased from 11 t0 14.

Two acres of land has been allotted for a permanent building for the centre in Maniyur.

The primary steps to construct a state-of-the-art building here is in progress. IGNOU has started a reference library near Maniyur High School as well, a press release said.
