Writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair has said that he has a strong urge to write more for his readers and he has been trying to accomplish the same for the past several years.
Addressing a literary workshop for students organised by the Kerala Youth Welfare Board at Sarovaram in Kozhikode on Monday, the writer said he was happy to notice that people were eager to get new works from him. “My mind is working well, but that is not the case with my body. Eyesight and hearing have deteriorated,” he said.
Mind prevails
However, he maintained, there was nothing odd in it and everyone should undergo such an experience in life. “For me, the mind is still active and I may succeed in overcoming the physical hurdles with that impulse,” he said.
Mr. Vasudevan Nair told young writers to take the pen only if they had something fresh in their mind. Up-and-coming writers should find new paths in the field rather than traverse the paths created by others, he said.
Referring to a recent incident in which a small girl child was allegedly beaten to death by her parents, the writer said he felt like finishing off the accused parents after reading about the incident. “If I was a young man, I would have reacted like that. We never want to witness such incidents again,” he said.
