The focus should be on enhancing human resource in the form of ace naval designers and architects for the Indian Navy, he said at the inaugural of a two-day seminar on ‘Shipbuilding challenges and the role of Nirdesh’ here on Thursday.

Nirdesh or the National Institute for Research and Development in Defence Shipbuilding was being set up at Chaliyam to achieve complete self-reliance in shipbuilding, the Vice Admiral said. The seminar would prepare a road map for Nirdesh.
