HSS principals allege neglect

January 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - Kozhikode:

Even after 25 years of coming into existence, the higher secondary section of schools continues to be neglected by the education department, the Kerala Higher Secondary School Principals Association (KHSPA) has alleged.

In a release issued here, the association said though the higher secondary section was started in 1991, it became a completely separate entity under a principal in 2006. However, most of these schools did not get any additional infrastructural facilities or supporting staff.

The principals also have other responsibilities including the administrative, clerical and other jobs at the school. Although, the high school section in the same school would have staff members including peon, clerk and sweeper for it, no additional staff have been recruited for the higher secondary schools. The students suffer for this as overburdened principals cannot focus on academics, they said.
