If the results of the SSLC examinations gave Kozhikode ample reason to cheer, the district could not repeat the feat in the Higher Secondary exams, the result of which were announced on Wednesday.
While last year’s pass percentage was 90.96 per cent (the highest in the State), the district registered a pass percentage of only 82.5 this year in the higher secondary exams.
The district had as many as 13 schools with a 100 per cent success last year; this year, only three schools recorded 100 per cent pass.
There are 163 higher secondary schools in the district, including 62 government HSSs, 68 aided HSSs and 33 unaided HSSs.
As many as 29,921 students had registered for the Plus Two examinations from the district this year. When 29,792 of them appeared for the exams, 24,579 got though it giving the district a pass percentage of 82.5 and 475 students with A+ in all subjects.
In the technical school category, 148 students registered for the examinations. While 147 of them appeared for the exams, 101 cleared it. In the Open School category, as many as 10,250 students registered for the exams. Of the 10,098 students, who took the exams, only 3,657 managed to get over the hurdle. There is not a single student with A+ in all subjects in the technical school as well as in the Open school category.
Silver Hills Higher Secondary School, St. Joseph's Anglo Indian Girls Higher Secondary School, and Calicut Higher Secondary School for the Handicapped, Kolathara are the three schools which secured 100 per cent success.
