Hospitality awards given away in Kozhikode

The hospitality awards instituted by the Tourism Department, as part of the Onam celebrations for the year, were distributed by Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan on Wednesday.

The awards, instituted in association with District Tourism Promotion Council, were given away at the valedictory function of the Onam celebrations.

Awards were given to best hotels and restaurants in the city, as per the recommendations of the Hospitality Committee chaired by P.V. Gangadharan.

Hotel Gateway has been selected as the best luxury hotel in five star category while Copper Folia and Malabar Palace bagged the first and second prizes respectively in the four star category. Westway Hotel, Hyson Heritage, and Kovilakom Residency bagged the first three prizes respectively in the 3-star category.

M-Grill bagged the award for the best Multi-cuisine non-vegetarian restaurant followed by Garlic Routes and Kings Bay in the second and third positions. Hotel Vinayaka was selected the best vegetarian restaurant while Pure South and Punjab Di Rasoi came second and third.

Unnikrishnan of city traffic police station bagged the award for the best traffic police man while K. Shamsudheen from Panniyankara and K.K. Preman from Paramabil Bazar bagged the prizes for the best auto rickshaw driver and best taxi driver respectively.
