‘Government ignoring victims’

November 06, 2017 11:04 pm | Updated 11:04 pm IST - Kozhikode

Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala has said that the United Democratic Front (UDF) has not opposed the GAIL pipeline project but only contested the manner in which it is being implemented by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government.

Speaking to media persons after visiting Eramavu near Mukkom on Monday, he said that the State government was trying to implement the project without considering the emotions of the victims whose land would be used for the project.

The Padayorukkam Yatra led by Mr. Chennithala passed through various areas of Mukkom in the district.

The region had witnessed violence last week during the anti-GAIL agitations that resulted in injuries to the protesters and the police, and damage to property.

The Congress leader said people were confused with the notification issued to them for acquiring land for laying pipelines for natural gas supply.
