A scintillating show by the famous Portuguese DJ Diego Miranda, a street play contest throwing light on some of the grave social issues, and an interactive session with national award winning film-maker Anil Radhakrishna Menon were some of the highlights of the third day of Ragam.
The annual inter-collegiate cultural festival of the National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C), concluded on the institute campus on Sunday. Revelry was at its peak as the festival entered its final day, which witnessed last rounds of several competition events including JAM, Mock-Court, and Mr. and Ms Ragam.
Student bands
The student bands representing different colleges from various parts of the country made their mark in live music as they vied with one another for the top spot blending well-known melodies with new age music in the music band competition. Other musical events included Anthakshari, Western Solo, and Maapilapaatu competitions.
Spirited competition was witnessed in fine arts events such as vegetable carving and JAM Sketching on the final day of Ragam on Sunday, which also had a one-of-its-kind cookery competition ‘Salt and Pepper’.
Exhibitions and workshops, which continued from the previous day, got great response from the participants, said the organisers. A number of short-films competing in the ‘Take One’ short film contest, which continued on Sunday, were screened before large audience on the campus.
Film-maker Anil Radhakrishna Menon interacted with the budding film-makers and shared his experiences with them as part of the festival.
Performance by the young playback singer Job Kurian, and a session with Boogieloop — an international street artist from Argentina who entertained the crowd with his witty theatrical narrative, were other attraction of the final day.
Ragam ended with some electrifying pro-shows that had the crowd dancing away throughout the night to the groovy tunes of Lost Stories, and the internationally famed DJ Diego Miranda.
