The Kidney Patients’ Welfare Society under the district panchayat is collecting funds from schools, mosques, and churches in the district for its ‘Snehasparsam’ project.
Funds will be collected from mosques on January 31 and from churches on February 6.
The society is also planning to conduct a camp for the mentally challenged as part of its decision to extend ‘Snehasparsam’ beyond kidney patients. There is also a plan to open a day-care centre for mentally challenged persons.
The society that was set up in December 2011 had conducted dialysis for around Rs.2.5 crore in the two years, a press release said.
