It’s rarely that a budding photographer gets to showcase his works before the world. Immagine, a network of photography enthusiasts from across the world, is organising online contests for amateur photographers on various themes with the aim of helping them improve their skills.
Immagine, as part of a photography workshop in Kozhikode on Saturday, held a three-day photography exhibition at the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art Gallery from Friday showcasing photographs that topped various contests as well as ones that got special mention.
With a difference
However, what makes the Immagine exhibition different is that each photograph carries the comments of the judges who have analysed the picture, angles and various technical aspects that explain why that particular photograph was chosen, and what the photographers could have done to make them better.
There are over 50 photographs selected from 25 contests that include photographs from all over the world, though a major chunk is from India. The contests were held over a period of time by providing themes in advance.
Besides the photographs, the Immagine website has excerpts from interviews with masters of photography.
Immagine also has photo tours on various locations in India and abroad consisting of a series of 12 photographs that give one a fair idea of what to expect in that location.
The exhibition concluded on Sunday.
