A group of former students, social activists and interested persons have formed the Malaparamba Aided Upper Primary School Samrakshana Samithi to collect funds for the renovation of the school, which was found demolished on Friday morning, leading to widespread protests.

Meeting

The samithi had a meeting with the District Collector on Saturday to garner the district administration’s help in this regard. The group has started an account with the Indian Overseas Bank, Malaparamba branch.

Large parts of the school, which was a polling station for the Lok Sabha elections held on Thursday, was in the news for the past several months following a decision by the State government to close it down on a request from its manager citing the reason of non-viability.
