Kudumbasree products will be sold at outlets

The first e-shop among 16 such planned by the Kudumbasree Community Development Society under the Kozhikode Corporation will be inaugurated by Minister for Panchayats and Social Justice M.K. Muneer at the Oyitty Road in the city at 3.30 p.m. on Saturday.

At a press meet here on Thursday, Kudumbasree Project Officer Ramsy Ismail said the e-shop, a sophisticated and technologically advanced outlet for Kudumbasree products, will be first of its kind in the country. The e-shop, equipped with security cameras, UPS system, timer, alarm and sensors will sell various Kudumbasree products, seasonal produce, and local food for a fair price. The shop would also put on sale selected health and lifestyle products of other popular brands, he said.

The 16 e-shops were being set up in different parts of the city at the cost of Rs.32 lakh. “Selected Kudumbasree workers have already been trained in operating the shops,” said Mr. Ismail. e-shops will be opened at the Beach, Stadium Corner, Head Post Office Junction, and Medical College too in the first phase. The shops will be functional in all these places from June 23.

Muthalakkulam, Karapparamba, Pavangad, Beypore and Cheruvannur are among other places where the e-shops are planned.

“Since the Kudumbasree Mission does not have any outlets of its own in the region, the opening of the e-shops will make a big difference in marketing,” said Mr. Ismail.

Mayor A.K. Premajam will preside over the function.
