Rescue team averts major disaster

July 01, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - Kozhikode:

A team from the Fire and Rescue Services Department on Thursday saved a four-storey shopping complex on Mavoor Road from a massive fire. Though a generator and some articles at a leading footwear shop were gutted, the rescue squad managed to douse the flames and safely evacuated the occupants of the complex.

Police said two persons suffered minor injuries in their hurried attempt to come out of the building. Traffic was paralysed on the busy road for around two hours. Assistant Divisional Officer (Fire and Rescue Services) Arun Bhaskar supervised the operations.
