The Kozhikode Corporation is holding a file adalat from September 1 to 4 entirely for files related to town planning. Mayor A.K.Premajam told reporters here on Friday that maximum number of files pending in the Corporation were planning related and hence needed a separate adalat. The Mayor said that the Coastal Regulatory Zone rules and those pertaining to the wetlands and paddy fields were the major deterrents in sanctioning building plans submitted by the public. The problem is especially relevant in Beypore and Elathur regions that are mostly coastal areas. The adalat will be held at Elathur Zonal Office at 2.30 p.m. on September 1 and at Beypore Zonal Office at 2.30 p.m. on September 2. The adalat at Cheruvannur office will be held at 3 p.m. on September 3. At the Corporation main office on Kozhikode beach, the adalat will be held from 10 a.m. onwards till evening on September 4, because of the large number of pending files. The Corporation is also planning to hold another adalat in December 2014 or January 2015. The Corporation had invited applications from the public in June regarding pending files. Files related to revenue, welfare and health were considered in a file adalat held on July 25.
