In a programme titled ‘Avant-Garde’ organised as part of the State convention of the Kerala State Youth Congress, renowned artists from the city came together on Friday to paint a big canvas with themes echoing the nation’s popular sentiments against communalism and extremism.

Minister for Panchayats and Social Justice M.K. Muneer inaugurated the programme by writing ‘Say no to terrorism’ on one of the paintings. Dr. Muneer said some of the communal forces in the country were always found trying to dissect the Indian community in the name of religion. He said the trend was totally against secularism.

Artists Sreeni Paleri, Chandran Kalpathur, Usman Koyilandy, Charuth Chandran, Lakshmanan Koyilandy, Jithu Chandran, and Sudhi Sankar led the programme.
