Certificate courses in proficiency of English and French

January 17, 2014 01:20 pm | Updated May 13, 2016 10:08 am IST - MALAPPURAM:

The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad, will launch its academic programmes at its newly opened Malappuram centre on January 31.

The launch of two certificate courses in proficiency of English and French will mark the end to a long wait for the EFLU programmes in Malappuram.

Although the beginning of statutory programmes in different foreign languages will be a little far, the proficiency certificate courses in English and French will be a small but firm step towards a full-fledged EFLU campus in Malappuram, said P. Ubaidulla, MLA.

EFLU’s programmes

P. Madhavan, EFLU Registrar, said here on Thursday that the government and the university were keen to launch the flagship programmes of EFLU in Malappuram.

However, he admitted that technical issues had adversely affected the opening of the campus on time.

Proficiency courses

The proficiency courses to be launched in English and French will be of three months’ duration.

Classes will be held from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on weekdays from Monday through Friday.

Prof. Madhavan said Rs.6,000 would be the course fee, which had to be paid in the form of a demand draft drawn in favour of the Registrar, EFL University, Hyderabad, payable at Hyderabad.

The seats would be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, said Prof. Madhavan.

40 seats for English

“We will restrict the intake to 40 seats for English and 30 seats for French,” he said. The eligibility would be a pass in Plus Two or equivalent.

Application forms could be downloaded from the EFLU website, www.efluniversity.ac.in. Filled-in applications should be sent to Sravan Kumar, Academic Coordinator, Flat No. 1, Peekey Residency, Mylappuram, Downhill, Malappuram 676519, along with the demand draft.

Application forms can also be obtained from the above address in person.

The last date for receipt of applications is January 27. Selected candidates will be informed by e-mail or telephone.

For details, the academic coordinator can be contacted at 09612169319.
