District arts fete sees stiff fight on penultimate day

Chavayur sub-district retains lead in HSS category

The fourth day of the ongoing Kozhikode Revenue District School Arts Festival, at Kunnamangalam, was eventful with sub-districts and schools putting up a stiff fight for dominance. The positions on the previous day did not change on Wednesday.

Chavayur sub-district is leading in the higher secondary school (HSS) category with 300 points while Kozhikode City, 283, and Balussery, 217, are at the second and third positions respectively.

Among the schools, Silver Hills Higher Secondary School with 156 points is leading while Memunda HSS with 88 points and National HSS, Vattoli, 75 points, are fighting for the second position.

In the high school (HS) category, the Kozhikode City sub-district is leading with 278 points while Chavayur, 270 points, Koyilandy, 267 points, are close behind.

Silver Hills HSS is leading in the category with 164 points while Memunda HSS, 101 points, and St. Josephs’ Anglo Indian GHSS, 94 points, are at the second and third positions respectively.

The Balussery sub-district is leading the upper primary (UP) category with 107 points while Vadakara is at the second position with 106 points and Chavayur at third, 100 points.

As for the schools, Memunda HSS is leading in the category with 41 points while KKGMHS, Chungapuram, 35 points, is at the second position.

In the UP Sanskrit category, the Perambra sub-district, 83 points, is leading while Balussery and Koyilandy at 80 are close behind.

GHS, Cheruvannur, is the leading school in this category with 48 points while Mannur Krishna AUPS with 42 points and GMUPS, Elettil, 41 points, are close behind.

In the HS Sanskrit category, the Kunnummal sub-district is leading with 64 points along with Balussery and Chevayur.

In the UP Arabic Sahityotsavam, the Nadapuram and Feroke sub-districts are leading with 60 points each while Koduvally and Kunnamangalam at 58 are at the second position.

MUPS, Vanimel, with 50 points is the leading school in the category while AMUPS, Makkoottam, 48 points, and MUMHSS, Vadakara, 36 points, are at the second and third positions respectively.

In the HS Arabic Sahityotsavam, Nadapuram is leading with 71 points while Kozhikode Rural and Feroke with 69 points are close behind. PTMHS, Kodiyathur, is leading the category with 51 points while MUMVHSS, Vadakara, 49 points, and Calicut Girls HSS, 38 points, are at the second and third positions respectively.

Group song, Patriotic song, and Mimicry are the major events on Thursday, the last day of the festival. The valedictory function will be held at 5 p.m. at Government Higher Secondary School, Kunnamangalam.
