Despite the formation of a special squad, the police are yet to obtain any clue for identifying the dismembered body that was found abandoned amid a heap of slaughterhouse waste near Thondimel in Karassery last week.

Though the investigators recently gathered the details of a number of man missing cases from various police stations in the district, none of them was found to match the case.

Police sources said the next possibility was to check the details of all migrant labourers who recently came to various labour camps in the interior areas of Kozhikode district. With the support of the local police, efforts are also on to check if any of them are missing from their locations.

It was on July 7 that the decapitated body with severed limbs and legs was found abandoned in the garbage heap. The severed limbs had been recovered earlier from the Chaliyam coastline. In the post-mortem examination, it was confirmed that the man was strangled to death.
